Literacy for Sustainability and the Environment
DESCRIPTION
This is an interdisciplinary course with unique characteristics. It was thought for students who like to be challenged, to think critically and search for creative solutions, to exchange their points of view and experiences and to contribute towards a more sustainable world. Ongoing since the academic year 2017 – 2018, it is open to students of any field of study eager to contribute to a cause that requires everyone´s expertise.
Sustainable agriculture, nutrition and well-being. Green, smart cities and resilient communities. Climate change and carbon neutrality. Soils and sustainable production. Protection of the oceans and marine life. Biodiversity and conservation of life on land. Legislation, communication, participation, collaboration.
If you’re interested in the most urgent environmental problems of our planet and – most importantly – if you want to contribute to a more sustainable future and a more active environmental citizenship, this course is for you!
This course is offered by the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Coimbra and organized by the UNESCO Chair in Biodiversity Safeguard for Sustainable Development with the support of the Centre of Functional Ecology.
The UNESCO Chair in Biodiversity Safeguard for Sustainable Development seeks to implement and support a network of research, education and science communication in the fields of biodiversity, ecology, conservation and sustainable development.
